Multimedia is different in the sense that it is a creative field whereas programming is a logical field. Programming is constrained to a set of predetermined rules and procedures whereas Multimedia is all about unleashing your creativity and doing things differently. Also one must add that Multimedia is a lot less cumbersome than programming because it involves creativity.

Multimedia refers to a combination of colors, sound, text and moving pictures. Simply put, where more than one medium is used at the same time, it is said to be ‘multimedia’. Television is an example of multimedia.
